Jason Gibson: The Director

Jason Gibson: a 22 year old Australian Army Infantry Officer, Business University Graduate and Film-maker, is the creative and driving force behind the $16,397 budget “Sharkmen” movie.

Jason has a Bachelor of Business Marketing from Central Queensland University (2008) and is an Officer graduate of The Royal Military College Duntroon in Canberra (2007). He received a Royal Queen’s Officer Commission before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and posted into the Royal Australian Infantry Corps.  

Jason was successful in getting funding from CQUniversity’s Regional Centre of the Arts (CQU’s RCotA) to pay for Cast and other Production Costs. With a Production Budget just under AUD$16,397.

With a 113 page script, the film shot over 14 days in November 2008 (see “Making Of” - www.thegibsonstyle.com: for details on how the film was made).  

Sharkmen utilised 23 prominent locations throughout Central Queensland. Something unheard of with the size of the budget and one man skeleton crew.

Jason is currently developing and finishing the last two sequels in the SHARKMEN trilogy; along with numerous other projects in various stage of development.  A prominent script on the horizon is a dark in-visioned thriller styled in a hellish after life environment.. Titles to be announced.

In 2009 Jason was personally invited to work on the set of the hit Television Show Desperate Housewives and be mentored by Director of Photography Lowell Peterson ASC, on Series 6 of the show.  Jason was taught the professional fine touches of cinematography and Post-Production finesse by industry heavyweights.

Jason has also been accepted into and completed various courses with the Australian Film and Television Radio School (AFTRS) and the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
